Bill did his normal GREAT job summarizing the results of the election this year by building from the Presidential election on down to the results for Oregon. I counted about 65 of the local movers and shakers in attendance. It was nice to have the city manager Jon Nelson at our table. I was shocked and surprised to learn that about only 10% of any population were that interested and involved in politics. What a shame! Bill highlighted the winners and loser in the session. Higher education continues to loose out and took another 12% hit primarly due to Oregon's investment in the prison population. Seems the inmates don't and can't be charged tuition. Boy is that a shame. I think the bumper sticker that reads, "If you think education is expensive, think about the cost of ignorance!" I am not saying that all people in prison are stupid but I don't think they are as well educated as most of on the outside of the prison walls. I could be wrong but would have to have someone prove it! Dumb people make dumb choices not that I haven't made some pretty dumb ones myself! I wonder how the vote on the business tax and tax on the wealthy will turn out now that it will be voted on by the people.
