Bill, thanks for the reminder about Farmland LP info. Also, I like the idea of a meeting to discuss local investing or to have a Farmland LP presentation to a group like WAC investors. This would have a specific topic upfront with the opportunity to…

Jason, until I read the blog interview, I did not realize that your focus was local farmlands (Willamette Valley).  I guess it was the SF HQ that threw me off.  I had thought last November to comment that WAC was not a good vehicle since…

Last year (and the year before I believe) we did use a convertible note. There were issues with investing in an LLC but I am no expert in the topic. Steve Shields would definitely know more.

Bill, I agree with you that I think we have potential investors for local investing. And the need for such investment is there. I am, however, unclear on what actually needs to be done to get some of this going. While angle investors looking for big…

Perhaps they can take some cuttings of their roses (some are quite beautiful and unusual), start them and sell the result rose plants. This may take too long to help them now but perhaps it is a long term fund raiser.

A few days ago in the G/T it posted the vote of the council as 7-2 with Traber and Beilstein voting in the minority decision on continuation of the enterprise zone legislation before the legislature.  Maybe I misread it but I was surprised and thought I would try to win you over to "my position" but if you are already there guess I will have to go to work on the other 7. smile

Hey Biff, What was the rational behind your vote on the support for the Enterprise Zone? As Zone Manager for Benton County/City of Corvallis I would love to talk to you about why I think they are a key tool in the advancement of local economic development.  The tax incentives are only on new/expanded buildings and equipment and in the standard package good for 3 years. T Gerding expanded at the CMAIP into a $2.2 million dollar building and Natural Point built a building that when finished will be well over $2 million.  Natural Point is up to 35 employees now. The land is not part of the tax deferment.  Do you need more information?
