Hey everyone! First, I have to say that Cameron, Clint and myself had a great time down at WIN09 last week. It is amazing to see the contrast from a lot of the larger cities we typically do events in. Corvallis truly has the community support to be fostering innovation and really build communities.

So, really I wanted to play off of that and point out why every single person we met at WIN09 should be attending Startup Weekend:
1) Everyone wants to support innovation and entrepreneurship
2) We can spend an entire weekend building instead of just talking!
3) The amount of expertise and experience at WIN09 could truly be applied to a community effort to create and build some truly great ideas
4) There is no better way to network with people than to work side by side, share ideas, and implement solutions to common problems.
5) Over 90% of the people in the room consider themselves entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs have new ideas, and there is no better, risk-free forum to see if the community also thinks that those ideas are viable!

Hope to see you all there! You can register with a discount code of "sw20" to get 20% off of your ticket!

Please share your feedback and ideas!

Marc, what kind of people should do Startup Weekend? What kind of kung fu skills are a good fit? Do I need to be a code monkey or a designer?
Good question Loyan!

Anyone that considers themselves an entrepreneur or innovator should attend. Part of the magic is getting people from all backgrounds to converge for more than a regular networking event. This is really a community forum for passionate individuals to come together and form teams around new ideas and spend an entire weekend building instead of talking!

Typical attendees include:
-People involved in a startup already
-Anyone who has ever though "man, i could really use..." or "if only there was a service that..."
-Web Developers
-Marketing professionals
-Designers
-Business Development types
-Students
-Recruiters
-Investors

There have been startups that range from T-Shirt embroidery companies, to jewelry dealers, to iPhone Apps, to websites.

Most of the time it is not about what one person knows, but about what one person does not know in a room full of their peers! It is an amazing, informal forum to test out that "what if" idea!
