Ignite Corvallis

If you had five minutes on stage what would you say? What if you only got 20 slides and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds? Around the world geeks have been putting together Ignite nights to show their answers.

Wendy is right on. Been there, done that and thought I could mostly wing it. At least have bullet points for all your slides.

First-time presenter question: Is the # of slides a constant or can the format be tweaked if the total presentation time is still 5 minutes? Hypothetically speaking 40 slides * 7.5 seconds of auto-rotation is still 5 minutes. I'm not planning on that many but just asking how much flexibility within the framework is acceptable?

zero flexibility :)

I'm taking your slides and merging them all into one big presentation. Then setting the slide transition to 15 seconds. So, yea, what Chris said :P

I have just printed out my ticket. Thank you, Jason. Practice hard, everybody!

One of the things I thought about after I did my Ignite presentation was, could I have run the same slide twice to give me 30 seconds on that part? Is that cheating?

If you have 2 slides that are exactly the same, then the result would be 30 seconds...

Watching last year's Ignite. Question: The intro slide for Ignite, the title slide and the ready, set and go slides - are they part of my presentation? My plan is to begin talking at MY slide one. Right?

Will there by a PC screen that we can watch the slides coming up (on the table in front of us) or do we have to go to the audience screen in back of us for prompting? Are you planning for a hand-held mic like last year?

Yes, there will be a monitor at the podium displaying the slides.

There is one "Ignite Corvallis" slide buffer between presentations that will last 15 seconds. So be ready to go when the previous person is wrapping up. You can start talking once you get the mic :)
